How did you get into blogging?
I began sharing online about five years ago on Instagram. Even before that I was into sharing on Myspace or Tumblr. I didn’t realize then, sharing my style could become a career. I don’t remember when I started changing from personal posts or style posts, but it came naturally. It was sort of a creative outlet from studying nursing in high school.
Do you ever find any pressures or difficulties being in the fashion industry? If so, how do you deal with them?
Of course, I experienced a lot of self-doubt and still do sometimes. The fashion industry can be so saturated, especially now-a-days, that it makes you look at everyone working in it. It’s easy to compare yourself, and I dealt with self-esteem issues when doing that. However, I figured out what “influence” I wanted to have, and when I became my true self, nobody could interfere with that.
What are some trends or styles that you find are timeless each season?
Monochrome and oversized pieces are always timeless. I love the power each of those gives off. A monochrome pastel is fun in the summer and a full nude palette is so warm in the colder seasons. Also, I love oversized pieces that play with silhouettes. Personally, pulling off an oversized piece exudes the confidence and sex appeal of a tight dress. Plus, comfort is key!
What do you love about your Vetiver pieces and how did you incorporate them into your daily wardrobe?
All the Vetiver pieces are bold wardrobe staples, appropriate for every occasion! I always shop for multi-purpose clothing and those I can get several looks out of. Like the cheetah print maxi, I can dress up or easily down with my denim jacket and sneakers. Also, the cardigan with long pants or even on its own. The versatility of the pieces is exciting!
